A surprising amount of scheduling work comes down to counting days. How many calendar days until a deadline, how many weekdays a project takes, how many full weeks between a kickoff and a launch — all the same arithmetic, all easy to fumble in a spreadsheet because of inclusive vs exclusive endpoints, leap years, and weekend handling.
This calculator computes three numbers from any pair of dates: total calendar days, weekday-only days (Monday–Friday), and full weeks. It excludes the start date and includes the end date by default, matching the convention used by most project-management tools. Frequently asked questions
- Are weekends counted in the weekday total?
- No. Weekdays counts Monday through Friday only. Weekends and public holidays are excluded.
- Is the start or end date included?
- End date is included, start date is excluded — the same convention used by GitHub, Linear, and most PM tools. A start of Mon and end of Tue equals 1 day.
- Does this account for public holidays?
- Weekday-only mode doesn't. Use the working-days calculator for country-specific public-holiday adjustments.
